Jesse will be speaking about the regenerative work that he has been doing as well as the legislation that he will be helping to introduce this month to the Vermont state legislature.

Plant This Movie

Middlebury College Organic Farm and visiting guest Karney Hatch will be screening “Plant This Movie,” a documentary about urban faming. “Plant This Movie” explores the zeitgeist of urban farming around the world, from the incredible story of Havana, Cuba to communities of urban farmers in cities as diverse as Shanghai, Calcutta, Addis Ababa, London, and Lima. In the US, the story focuses on New York, New Orleans, Los Angeles and Portland, Oregon. The film is narrated by Daryl Hannah.

Myths and Controversies of Organic Agriculture

Johanna Mirenda is the Technical Director at the Organic Materials Review Institute and formerly worked as Policy Director for an organic certifying agent. Based on her experience within the organic industry and her deep understanding of organic policy, Mirenda will speak on some misconceptions surrounding the definition of organic, and then focus on controversial issues within the industry, regarding organic policy and its interpretations and implementation.
