In a completely improvised concert, Kai Hoadley (‘24.5) on fiddle, Charlie Moore (‘24) on guitar, and Professor Matthew Taylor on supporting instruments will create a composition live for the audience. Come see the culmination of a semester of our improvising as a trio and watch as brand-new sounds and ideas unfold. 

The spring concert by Diana Fanning’s students has always been a popular event celebrating our talented Middlebury pianists.  This year’s program features Judy Chen, Adam Gips, Greg Marcinik, and Peter Shellhaas playing works by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy,  MacDowell and Mozart. Music Department voice students present a lively evening of Broadway solos, duets, and ensembles.

The College Choir explores humanity’s relationship with the natural environment as expressed in poetry and choral music. Themes of joy, repentance, celebration, and justice are reflected in works by Elaine Hagenberg and Don Macdonald (USA), Gerald Finzi and Richard Farrant (England), Gerardo Guevara (Ecuador), and Blas Galindo and Jesús Echevarría (Mexico).

Experience an exciting collaborative concert featuring eclectic music from classic jazz to classic rock including reharmonized standards. Affiliate Artist Miles Donahue and his students Scott Li ’24, Terry Luongo ’25 and Julia Ulsh ’24 showcase performance skills in listening, harmony, accompaniment, and improvisation as they perform the music of Depeche Mode.

This fascinating program spans at least 2,500 years of musical history. Based on authentic fragments of ancient Greek hymns that have survived, composer, musicologist, and lyre soloist Nikos Xanthoulis and mezzo soprano Sophia Karakouta illustrate the evolution of Greek music from antiquity to the present. Through storytelling and performance of hymns and traditional and modern songs to the accompaniment of a reconstructed ancient lyre, the audience is invited to experience the journey of Hellenic music through time. Join us for this unique musical experience!

Carillonneurs of the Wellesley College Guild will perform a variety of classical and contemporary music. The carillon is best enjoyed from the lawns surrounding the chapel.

The Middlebury College Orchestra celebrates orchestral color with three masterworks featuring Wagner’s thrilling prelude from Lohengrin, Debussy’s sumptuous Nocturnes, and Schumann’s evocations of spring in his Symphony No. 1.

Come join orchestra for our information session!  We’ll be going over important information about rehearsal expectations, auditions, and logistics, and the meeting will be followed by the first night of auditions. Audition with two contrasting excerpts from pieces you feel comfortable playing—that’s it! If you do not feel prepared to audition this Thursday, we will be continuing auditions this Sunday.
