Celebrating their 15th concert season, the Champlain Philharmonic, under the direction of Matthew LaRocca, presents the Fall Concert Series. The program includes selections from Brahms’ Hungarian Dances and Dvorak’s Slavonic Dances, Veils and Whirlwinds by Vermont composer and Middlebury faculty member Peter Hamlin ’73. Harpsichordist Gwen Toth ’77 and singer-actor Sarah Chalfy present the story of 17th-century painter and feminist heroine Artemisia Gentileschi in a production of music, theater, and image, including songs by Baroque composer Barbara Strozzi. Genstileschi survived rape, humiliation, and a sensational trial to achieve international renown as an artist. Free
