We’ll play active lawn-games and then slow down, have lunch, and talk about opportunities here in Monterey as MIIS students.

Her expertise enables clients to cut through the career noise and achieve their goals. What is Community Choice Energy? A Discussion of an Alternative to PG&E Power

Monterey Bay Community Power is a regional project among local government agencies that aims to provide electricity to residents and businesses throughout Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz Counties through the new Community Choice Energy (CCE) model. CCE enables communities to choose clean-source power at a cost equivalent to PG&E, while retaining PG&E’s role in maintaining power lines and providing customer service. The CCE model helps ensure local economic vitality because money from rates paid by local customers stays local.

Understanding ISIS

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, Califnornia State University, Monterey Bay, presents Understanding ISIS. The Islamic State, or ISIS, has been responsible for some of the most atrocious war crimes and human rights abuses of this century. But what exactly is ISIS? How did it emerge? What are its goals and what kind of threat does it pose to the United States? This talk will answer these and other questions, with a focus on how the United States should counter terrorist movements like this today and in the future. Admission for the general public is $10.

The View from Putin's Russia

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, Califnornia State University, Monterey Bay, presents The View from Putin’s Russia. A quarter century has passed since the dissolution of the Soviet Union, but what has emerged from the shadows of this totalitarian regime? Russian scholar Anna Vassilieva will enlighten us on the current state of Russia as she explores numerous topics including the realities and aspirations of Russian youth, Putin’s influence on the nation, commonalities and differences between Russians and the American people, and the prognosis for bilateral relations.

Screening of In Country, a documentary about Vietnam War re-enactments directed by Meghan O’Hara and co-directed by Mike Attie To many of us, the idea of Civil War re-enactment is a familiar concept. But the men of Delta 2/5(R) recreate the battles of a far more charged conflict: The Vietnam War. For one weekend a year, the woods of Oregon transform as a mix of combat enthusiasts, Iraq veterans, and even a former South Vietnamese Army officer, revive — by choice — a war that a whole generation would much rather forget.
