Web scraping, succinctly defined, is “That thing on the internet looks cool. I want it!” We’ll learn to use web scraping to extract images, text, and data from a variety of websites. Although this workshop will use R, these techniques can be applied in a variety of different languages, as many other language have analogous functions. No R experience is necessary, although a background in programming will be helpful.

Gain experience creating a simple, but modern looking, portfolio website and deploying it to GitHub (via GitHub pages. To do so we will learn about basic web technologies HTML, CSS, JS and toolkits, like Bootstrap, that accelerate web development.
