UMOJA, the Middlebury College African Students Association, invites you to a night dedicated to Ethiopian food and culture and learning more about strong, inspiring Ethiopian women. The event will begin with an authentic Ethiopian dinner and it will continue with the screening of Difret, an Ethiopian produced movie that describes he true story of a young Ethiopian girl and a tenacious female lawyer embroiled in a life-or-death clash bwtween cultural traditions and their country’s advancement of equal rights.

We hope to bring together a group of speakers that will expand and challenge our views of Africa through the critical lens of film. We will have screenings leading up to the conference as well as a full day of guest speakers.
