Class of 2011 Post-Graduate Report
Post-graduation Plans
At the time of the survey (late spring of students’ senior year), 36% of students reported that they had secured employment (33% employed full-time), and another 25% were engaged in a job search. Fourteen percent of students reported that they would be attending graduate school (they had either been accepted or had applied and were waiting to hear back from schools to which they had applied). Another 14% had planned to travel or do volunteer work, while 8% percent of students had secured an internship. Three percent of students had secured a fellowship to pursue independent or graduate work.
More students in the class of 2011 (36%) reported having secured employment than in the classes of 2010 (34%) or 2009 (25%). In fact, this year’s employment rate is the highest reported by seniors in recent years, as shown in the table below.

Employment Industries
The chart below shows the employment industries reported by those students who had secured a job at the time of the survey. The most common industries were education (17%), finance/banking (15%), and consulting (13%) with smaller but significant numbers of students finding jobs in research, science and technology, media and communications, and legal industries.
