Middlebury College Choir to Tour Florida
The 45-voice Middlebury College Choir, known throughout
the country for its “Christmas in Vermont” programs
broadcast over public television, will perform in many Florida
locations in February. Admission to all concerts is free and the
public is cordially invited to attend.
Under the direction of Emory Fanning, the ensemble
has toured throughout the U.S. and has won critical acclaim for
its beautifully blended sound and musical sophistication.
This season’s program includes motets by Byrd, Vulpius,
Bruckner, and Schumann; works celebrating the centennial of Johannes
Brahms; 19th century part songs and glees; modern works by Berger,
Tavener and Randall Thompson; and traditional folk songs and spirituals.
Florida locales the choir will visit are: February
1, All Saints Episcopal Church, 333 Tarpon Drive, Ft. Lauderdale
(7:30 p.m.); February 2, Church of St. Gregory, Mizner Blvd. at
NE 2nd Street, Boca Raton (4 p.m.); February 3, Plymouth Congregational
Church, 3400 Devon Road, Coconut Grove, Miami (7:30 p.m.); February
4, Trinity Episcopal Church, Corner, Royal Palm and Granada, Vero
Beach (7:30 p.m.); February 5, Lakeside Presbyterian Church, 4601
Flagler Drive, West Palm Beach (7:30 p.m.); and February 6, Cathedral
Church of St. Luke, 130 N. Magnolia Ave., Orlando (7:30 p.m.).
