‘97 Winter Carnival Ice Show: Middlebury

Goes to the Movies

Middlebury Goes

to the Movies was the theme

of the 1997 Middlebury College Winter Carnival Ice Show, performed

last month in the Nelson Arena of the Memorial Field House.

The wonderful show featured 130 skaters from the

College and community—-Middlebury friends, colleagues, students

and children—-in group and solo roles from well-known films blending

classic and contemporary box office favorites. Guest skater Jessica

Roos, well known to Middlebury audiences, returned for this year’s

show, and a dynamic new pair team made their first Carnival Ice

Show appearance. Among the films selected, the show’s own Emmy

awards were 101 Dalmatians, Saturday Night Fever, Wizard of

Oz, The Lion King.
