Wu Han, Pamela Frank, Yeesun Kim Trio to Perform at the Middlebury College Center for the Arts on Feb. 19

In one of the group’s few concerts of the season, the Wu Han, Pamela Frank, and Yeesun Kim Trio will perform at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19 in the Concert Hall of the Middlebury College Center for the Arts on Route 30. The trio is composed of pianist Wu Han, violinist Pamela Frank, and cellist Yeesun Kim. They will perform works by Haydn and Tchaikovsky.

Each of the three musicians is familiar to Middlebury College audiences, having performed Beethoven and Schubert trio cycles and appearing frequently in other musical configurations.

Wu Han, who began her musical studies at the age of nine in her native Taiwan, has performed at some of the world’s most prestigious venues, including New York’s Carnegie Hall, Washington’s Kennedy Center, and Boston’s Symphony Hall. She has toured Europe and Asia as well, including performances in England, Spain, and Japan.

Han has participated in ArtistLed, the first musician-directed and Internet-based recording company. ArtistLed has received accolades from The New York Times and the Los Angeles Times, and was described by the Denver Post as “a classical music breakthrough.”

Violinist Pamela Frank, born in New York City where she still lives, has also enjoyed success worldwide. Making her Carnegie Hall debut in 1985, she has played at many of the same venues as Han. Frank has toured major American and international cities, and joined Yo-Yo Ma and other noted musicians in 1997 as part of her annual visit to Japan.

Cellist Yeesun Kim, a native of Seoul, performs as both a soloist and chamber musician. She has played throughout the United States as well as at concert halls worldwide. Since 1989, Kim has played with the Borromeo String Quartet, which in recent seasons has had extensive involvement with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, including a performance on “Live from Lincoln Center.”

Tickets for the performance are $9 general admission and $7 for senior citizens. A pre-performance dinner at 6:30 p.m. will be held at Rehearsals Cafe. To order tickets or make dinner reservations, please call the College box office at 802-443-6433.
