Middlebury President Laurie L. Patton was presented the 2016 Alumni Award by Choate Rosemary Hall at an April 6 reception at the school. Patton, a 1979 graduate of Choate, shared the stage with D. Dodge Thompson, chief of exhibitions at the National Gallery of Art and a 1966 Choate graduate.

The annual award honors alumni for outstanding accomplishments in their profession, and is the highest award the school bestows upon its alumni. Patton and Thompson were recognized for their respective contributions in the fields of education and the arts. Patton is the first Choate graduate to head a college or university.
