Life Stories of Middlebury College

“Life Stories of Middlebury College” is a multi-phase initiative intended to gather people's experiences while at the college, particularly reflections that highlight issues of diversity (including but not limited to race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, sexual orientation, age, and disability). Tangible results of the project include films lasting roughly 60 minutes with written transcripts and a robust index. If the interviewees grant permission, these materials are held in the College’s Special Collections and integrated into our catalogue system, enabling faculty, staff, and students to use these rich primary sources for future research, teaching, and learning. We intend to develop a sustainable process, enabling us in time to expand the project to include former college members, as well as local and regional residents.

The project will team together faculty, staff, and students as interviewers, and other faculty, staff, and students as individual interviewees. Individuals interested in participating in the project should contact CCSRE@middlebury.edu
