February 18th  ACS Daffodil Days

This is your last chance to order your daffodils through Staff Council, supporting the American Cancer Society. We will deliver bouquets and potted plants the week of March 23rd.

 

February 25th Tour: Mahaney Arts Center Costume Shop and “The Cage.” 

Come check out where costumes are created and assembled in MAC 234 and stored in a different location, “The Cage.”   Carol Wood, Costume Shop Director, and Robin Foster Cole, Associate Costume Director, will lead the tour and provide us with an introduction of the Costume Shop. 12:10 PM in Mahaney Arts Center Room 234

 

March 5th  Staff Council Open Meeting

March 10th Tour: McCardell Bicentennial Hall - Mittelman Observatory and Greenhouse. 

The Observatory consists of a dome housing a 24-inch DFM Engineering telescope, a control room, and an observation deck equipped with three smaller optical telescopes and a radio telescope. Jonathan Kemp, Telescope and Scientific Computing Specialist will lead the tour and overview.  Following the Observatory, we will head to the Greenhouse in Bi Hall, where Patti Padua, Greenhouse Curator, will give us a tour of the “museum of plants” on the 6th floor. 12:00 Noon in McCardell Bicentennial Hall

 

April 2nd Staff Council Open Meeting

April 9th Home Composting 101 with Ollie from Addison County Solid Waste Management District. 

Each workshop will cover the benefits of composting, why food scraps should be diverted from the landfill, how to set up and manage a pile, uses for compost, and troubleshooting tips. All participants will go home with a food scraps bucket for home use. 12:00 noon, Location: TBD

April 22nd - Gardening at the Knoll

Let’s meet at the Knoll where Food and Garden Educator, Megan Brakeley will provide us with many gardening tips as we all start to plan our home veggie gardens.  We will have a hands-on demonstration and possibly a tour if time allows. Noon at the Knoll, or if rain/cold: location tbd
