Stewart Hall is home to Brainerd first year students.  The building contains approximately 140 first-years who live on Stewart's five same-sex floors. There are two kitchens in Stewart, on the 1st and 5th floors. There are two large lounges and one small lounge in Stewart . A large study lounge is on the 2nd floor and the Pit, a large social space is on the 1st floor. The Pit boasts a pool table, a foosball table, a large screen and projector and comfy seating for hanging out. The small lounge is on the first floor as well but is in the middle of the hall, with study carrels, a sofa and an armchair for studying. Laundry facilities are also on the first floor. The hall's central location is in close proximity to Proctor (which houses the Bookstore and a dining hall), as well as McCullough (student mailroom, Student Employment, and The Grille). It is also just a short walk from the Center for the Arts and the Athletic Facilities.   The Commons Office is located on the 2nd floor and has cookware, movies and games for borrowing. Hepburn Hall is home to most Brainerd sophomores. Sitting just north of Stewart Hall, Hepburn provides 163 students with the same advantages of a central location.  Hepburn has five floors with a mix of single and double rooms. There is a large lounge on the 1st floor which provides space for hall gatherings, student organization meetings.  The lounge also allows performers access to the backstage of the ZOO, a student performance space which is located directly above the lounge.
