Shawn Ryan ’88 is an award-winning screenwriter and television producer. For his work on the crime show The Shield, he earned a Golden Globe for Best Television Drama, two AFI Awards, a Peabody Award for Television Excellence, and an Emmy nomination for writing. Ryan’s other television credits include The Unit, Lie to Me, Terriers, The Chicago Code, Last Resort, Mad Dog, and Timeless, and the current shows S.W.A.T. on CBS and The Night Agent, which will premiere on Netflix in 2023. Ryan is a former board member of the Writer’s Guild of America, West, and recently served as co-chair of the WGA’s Negotiating Committee. He currently serves on the Middlebury Performing Arts Council and is an active partner with the Center for Careers and Internships.
