Shawn Ryan ’88
Shawn Ryan ’88 is an award-winning screenwriter and television producer. For his work creating and showrunning the crime show The Shield, he earned a Golden Globe for Best Television Drama, two AFI Awards, a Peabody Award for Television Excellence, and an Emmy nomination for writing. Ryan’s other television credits include The Unit, Lie to Me, Terriers, The Chicago Code, Last Resort, Mad Dogs, Timeless, and the current shows S.W.A.T. on CBS and The Night Agent, which premiered on Netflix in March, 2023 and became one of its Top Five Most Watched English Language premieres of all time. Ryan is a former board member of the Writer’s Guild of America, West, and served five times on its Negotiating Committee, including as co-chair in 2020. He currently serves on the Middlebury Performing Arts Council and is an active partner with the Center for Careers and Internships.
