to Hold Cultural Show

All Events Open to the Public

The South Asian Students Association

at Middlebury College will present a show, featuring two hours

of music, dance, and culture in the Dance Theater in the Center

for the Arts from 8-10 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18. This event

is in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Sri Lanka’s independence

(formerly Ceylon), which is celebrated on Feb. 4. The program

will offer the Middlebury community an introduction to Sri Lankan

culture with 11 traditional and folk dances from different regions

in Sri Lanka, songs by professional artists, and a skit.

Following the show, a reception will

take place in the Center for the Art’s first floor lobby at 10

p.m. for those interested in talking to the performers.

A photo exhibition spanning Sri Lanka’s

50 years of independence also will be on display in the first

floor lobby both before and after the performance, from 6 p.m.

through the reception.

Admission to the music and dance performance

is $2.00. Tickets are available at the Middlebury College Center

for the Arts box office beginning Feb 12. Contact the box office
