Poet Peter Cole to Read Medieval and Contemporary

Hebrew Poetry at Middlebury College on Jan. 25

Poet Peter Cole will read from his own work and the

work of medieval and contemporary Hebrew poets in translation

in the Abernethy Room of Starr Library at Middlebury College at

4 p.m. on Jan. 25. Starr Library is on Old Chapel Road off South

Main Street (Route 30). The event is free and open to the public.

Cole, who lives in Jerusalem, is the author of two

books of poems, “Rift” and “Hymns and Qualms”

(Sheep Meadow Press). His translations include “Selected

Poems of Shmuel Hanagid” (Princeton University Press); “Love

and Selected Poems of Aharon Shabtai” (Sheep Meadow Press);

and “From Island to Island” by Harold Schimmel (Ibis

Editions).
