MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – In an opinion piece for the blog vtdigger.org, Hayden Dublois ’17 and Professor of Economics David Colander say Republicans must put forth new proposals to capture the support of millennial college students, a group that shunns traditonal candidates and party politics.

The authors of the piece offer two modifications of Republican policies aimed at these young voters—a tax system based on the benefits an individual receives and a replacement of rules-based regulation with principals-based regulation.

According to Dublois and Colander, “New millennial Republicans are looking for policies that blend Bernie’s heart with a Republican sensibility that ‘there ain’t no such thing as a free lunch, free college, or free health care.’”
