My name is Alison (she/her pronouns) and I have been a nurse in Vermont since 2002. I grew up in Connecticut, and moved here after graduating from nursing school at the University of Connecticut. I love the connections, community, and beautiful landscape of Addison County. I have 2 children, and together we enjoy skiing, socializing, and making hot chocolate.
I graduated from Frontier University as a Nurse Midwife in 2007, and then began working as a Family Nurse Practitioner after graduating from the University of Vermont in 2011. I have worked in Women’s Health, Primary Care, Emergency Department, and Inpatient settings as a nurse practitioner. I worked at Porter Medical Center for the past 16 years before joining Middlebury College in 2023. I have also worked as a Childbirth Educator and a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, where I have been humbled to walk with people through life-changing events. The common thread through all these roles has been a love of connecting with my patients and the broader community that supports us in achieving our health goals.
As the Director of Health Services, I am passionate about fostering empathy, connection, and balance for the team in the office so that they can provide the highest quality health care to our students. I also have the privilege of seeing students for healthcare appointments two days a week, and those visits are one of my favorite aspects of this role. Being a part of this team, and a part of students’ Middlebury College experience, is an awe-inspiring experience for me.
