Become a Peer Writing Tutor
The Writing Center hires a number of tutors through an application process each spring. Applications require a resume, cover letter, writing sample, and a Middlebury faculty tutor reference.
Timeline: Peer writing tutors are hired each spring for the following academic year.
Training: All students invited to become peer writing tutors will be asked to do 10 hours of paid training each semester.
TO APPLY: Please apply through the Middlebury College applicant portal (Workable). The job title is: CTLR Peer Writing Tutor. Applications for the 2027-2028 academic year will be posted in the fall of 2026 and due by April 2027.

About
Peer writing tutors work with writers through drop-in sessions, individual appointments, or as course-embedded tutors. They also take on leadership roles at the center including mentoring new tutors, running peer tutor trainings and workshops, and creating writing programming like the mindfulness writing challenge, conversation circles, and writing groups.
