Brown Bag Lunch on "Complex Problems: Closing FOB Sharana In Afghanistan"
In February 2013, LTC (P) Wendland was tasked to transfer over the third largest Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Afghanistan to the Afghan Government. FOB Sharana, as made famous by the podcast “Serial,” was the largest logistics hub in Eastern Afghanistan at the time. This was the first NATO FOB transfer to non-military/non-police agencies and took place in one of the most desolate locations in Eastern Afghanistan.
