Voice and representation are critical elements of sustainable development and civil societies. Come talk with Kate Bass, ‘ 11.5 about her path that began as a SOAN major with French and Spanish minors, and brought her to her current role as Program Officer with the Latin America and Caribbean team at the National Democratic Institute, which works internationally to build political and civic organizations, safeguard elections, and promote citizen participation. Kate has been a Field Organizer for President Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign, worked with women and adolescent girls displaced by the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, and helped launch the Nonprofit Partners Initiative for Project Vote, which sought to bring traditionally disenfranchised populations into the US electorate. Each of these roles contributed to Kate’s unique career portfolio focused on increasing political participation and strengthening communities both domestically and internationally.
