Elizabeth Knup
Elizabeth is the Country Director, China for the Ford Foundation overseeing grant-making and operations.
Elizabeth first moved to China in 1998 to be the American Co-Director of the Hopkins-Nanjing Center after ten years at the National Committee on US-China Relations. She then spent 11 years in the private sector as president of Pearson Education; Chief Representative, Pearson Group; and Managing Director, Kamsky Associates. She studied Chinese at Middlebury from 1979-82, including the grueling summer of 1980 and six months in Taiwan in 1981. She received her MA in Chinese Studies from the University of Michigan. Elizabeth sits on several not-for-profit boards, including the Institute for Sustainable Communities (based in Montpelier) and the National Committee on US-China Relations.


Arthur R. Kroeber

Editor, China Economic Quarterly
Arthur R. Kroeber is head of research at Gavekal, a financial-services firm based in Hong Kong, founder of the China-focused Gavekal Dragonomics research service, and editor of China Economic Quarterly. He divides his time between Beijing and New York. Before founding Dragonomics in 2002, he spent fifteen years as a financial and economic journalist in China and South Asia. He is a senior non-resident fellow of the Brookings-Tsinghua Center, an adjunct professor at the Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs, and a member of the National Committee on US-China Relations. His book China’s Economy: What Everyone Needs to Know is published by Oxford University Press in April 2016.
