Carol Rifelj Faculty Lecture Series: Pieter Broucke - New Approaches to Ancient Art

Pieter Broucke, Department of History of Art & Architecture, will give a talk as part of the 2020-21 Carol Rifelj Faculty Lecture Series: “New Approaches to Ancient Art: the Teaching Collection of Antiquities at the College Museum”

The college museum’s thematic reinstallation of its permanent collection provides an opportunity to take stock of the ways in which Middlebury’s ancient art collection has grown and developed over the past decades. As museological interests are shifting towards social and economic considerations of artistic production, scientific analysis, and issues of ownership, provenance, and repatriation, it becomes paramount to explore what may be in store for the next decades.
