In response to a surge in student activism and the recent announcement from Middlebury College President Ronald Liebowitz that the school will initiate a process to investigate divestment, Middlebury students will host “Midd Does The Math,” an event featuring Bill McKibben and special guests. The event takes place following McKibben’s sold-out “Do The Math” tour that has energized divestment campaigns across the country. The evening will feature faculty, students and alumni, as well as video appearances from environmental and social justice leaders Van Jones, Naomi Klein, Clayton Thomas-Muller and Desmond Tutu. The event will take place in Middlebury’s Mead Chapel, on Sunday, January 20th. Doors will open at 7:30 PM for Middlebury ID holders and 7:45PM for the community.
“If you’re curious about divestment, this event will be a chance to see why it has suddenly emerged as the biggest student movement in a very long time,” says Bill McKibben, Middlebury’s Schumann Distinguished Scholar.”
