“Barriers to Agricultural Change in Sub-Saharan Africa: Lessons from Ethiopia” an Environmental Studies senior thesis presentation by Ben Rosmarin ‘2025.5 Environmental Policy major.

Most smallholder farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa are encouraged to adopt “improved” agricultural practices, yet change remains uneven and often slow. Drawing on household data from Ethiopia, this talk explores why some farmers are able to adopt new practices and achieve higher yields while others cannot. The Ethiopia case offers broader lessons about how access and risk shape the pathways of agricultural transformation.
