A resident of Chicago, John White’s career spans nearly half a century, during which he has distinguished himself for his ability to capture the human spirit on film. The North Carolina native started off as a photographer for the Marines before getting a job with the now-defunct Chicago Daily News in 1969. When the Daily News went under in 1978, White moved over to the Chicago Sun-Times, where he worked until 2013. Over the course of his career, White has received more than 300 international awards for his work as a photojournalist, including a Pulitzer Prize and the National Press Photographers Association’s highest honor, the Joseph A. Sprague Memorial Award.
