MIIS is extremely lucky to have celebrated French actor Jean-Paul Schintu give a benefit performance on December 2nd, 2017, from 2-3pm in McGowen 102. Though his home base is Paris, France, Jean-Paul Schintu has performed in more than 60 theatrical pieces around the world, from classic (Molière, Maupassant) to contemporary (Nathalie Sarraute, Eugène Ionesco, Serge Ganzl). Jean-Paul Schintu will open his performance at MIIS with a short discussion of Albert Camus’ life, followed by a dramatic reading of excerpts from Camus’ novels, Noces à Tipasa and Le Premier Homme. The entire event will be in French. The performance is free of charge but attendees are encouraged to make donations at the door, all proceedings going to the local Monterey Alliance Française scholarship fund. Immediately following the performance, there will be a reception in the McGowen lobby from 3-4pm. To learn more about Jean-Paul Schintu, please visit his website at http://www.jean-paul-schintu.com.
