ENVS 0401 B Community Engaged Practicum Presentations: The Economy of the Future.
In her 2023 Middlebury Commencement talk, Dr. Ayana Elizabeth Johnson challenged the audience to lead climate action at the intersection of three questions: what work needs doing; what are you good at; and what brings you joy? In this ES401 section, we will partner with four Vermont-based organizations who are leading the action to create a more just and sustainable economy. This work may include the promotion of a 32-hour workweek, universal basic income, baby bonds, and affordable housing and land conservation. During the semester, we will study why this work is important, why our partners are leading it, and how it brings joy to them, thereby creating lives of meaning and purpose.
