Telling Stories about CO2: History, Science, and the Politics of Climate Change
Josh Howe and Kathy Morse will explore how environmental studies and the discipline of history can productively contribute to the climate change conversation, and what the history of global warming itself can tell us about the way forward. Focusing on the narrative tools of the historian—and particularly the narrative lens of tragedy—Howe will also elaborate on the argument of his recent book Behind the Curve, following the story of rising CO2 and the now famous Keeling Curve through a variety of historical contexts as he tries to make sense of our collective failure to address the problem of global warming.
