Perry Cohen is the founder of The Venture Out Project, an organization that both brings queer and trans people into the outdoors, and educates wilderness programs and professionals on the challenges of gender and sexuality in the outdoors. Join Brooker Haus and the Queer Studies House in learning about, building consciousness, and discussing how our personal experiences and identities influence the way we interact with the wilderness and outdoor industry. Perry will tell his story and talk about his activism; this will be followed by pizza and discussion groups led by Perry and fellow students. We will talk about how gender plays a role in how outdoor spaces are created at Middlebury and the effects this has on our community.
