Matt Schatz is a playwright, screenwriter, songwriter, poet, and educator whose works include A Wicked Soul in Cherry Hill, An Untitled New Play by Justin Timberlake, The Burdens (with a New York production starring Rachel Bloom in the works), The Past, A Present Yet to Come, and the new magical/musical comedy Merlin Returns with Piff the Magic Dragon. His plays are published by TRW and Broadway Licensing/Dramatists Play Service, and his poetry book Shoes Last Longer in LA was published in 2024. He wrote the songs for Spotify’s The Two Princes, co-wrote Netflix Animation’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory pilot with Taika Waititi, and his honors include the Kleban Prize, Edgerton Award, ASCAP Harold Arlen Award, Reva Shiner Comedy Award, and recognition as the Erma Bombeck Humor Writer of the Month.
