The week of April 23rd is Severe Weather Awareness Week at the National Weather Service in Burlington. When severe weather events occur the National Weather Service snaps into action issuing various advisories, watches, warnings, and providing guidance to communities with the mission to protect people and property. Join us to learn more about severe weather hazards in Vermont with Patrick Wickstrom. Patrick has a background in meteorology and climatology, forecasted winter weather two years for VTrans, modeled future precipitation changes in the Lake Champlain Basin, and studied solar energy’s impact on the Vermont electrical grid. Come chat with Patrick about severe weather hazards in Vermont, how to be prepared for when severe weather strikes, and how a changing climate is altering severe weather.

We meet at the Ilsley Public Library in the community room. Doors open at 5:00, you can enter the space through the garden door or through the East stairwell. The discussion starts at 5:30 and runs until 6:30. Coffee from The Royal Oak, decaf and caffeinated, is provided free of charge along with vegan nut-free snacks from Friday Bakery. Please bring your own cup and reduce waste!
