Migmar Tsering, a Tibetan artist and dancer, will talk about his experiences from early life, leaving Tibet, growing up in India, going to school, migrating to Vermont in 2011, and how he has adapted here – focusing on how he and the Vermont Tibetan community have worked to continue Tibetan cultural practices and why. Sharing stories, songs, and dance (dranyen playing), Migmar will tell us about the complexities and nuances of migration while sharing how much migrants bring to table, such as generating new knowledge production, culture, and community-building practices. This event is organized as part of Prof. Fulya Pinar’s Global Migration course, in collaboration with the Vermont Folklife Center.

Open to ID card holders only.
