Poet Ye Mimi has been called “among the most innovative poets and filmmakers to have emerged in Taiwan in the twenty-first century.” She will screen three of her short films (40 minutes total): “They Are There But I Am Not,” made while Ms. Ye was at the Art Institute of Chicago; “Hail the Bodhisattva of Collected Junk,” a collaboration with Taiwanese singer Ro Sirong; and “Cease Susurrating,” which is dedicated to Ms. Ye’s late husband and is an abstracted depiction of funerals in Indonesia. All three films have English subtitles. After the screening, Ms. Ye will hold a Q & A session with the audience in English.
