Ambassador Alfredo Labbé Villa
Ambassador Alfredo Labbé Villa is the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Chile to the International Organizations in Vienna. He has previously served as President of the Preparatory Commission of the CTBTO (2012) and as Governor for Chile at the Board of Governors of the IAEA (2011-2012). In his 39-year diplomatic career, he has also served in numerous other positions related to disarmament, international security, and multilateral diplomacy, including as Chile’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, New York (2005-2008) and as DPR to the UN Office and the Conference on Disarmament, Geneva (2000-2002).
Ambassador Susan Burk
Ambassador Susan Burk served as the Special Representative of the U.S. President for Nuclear Nonproliferation from 2009 to 2012. In this capacity, she was responsible for working with other States to strengthen the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and the international nonproliferation regime and played a lead role in preparing for the 2010 NPT Review Conference. During her lengthy career in government, she also served as the first Deputy Coordinator for Homeland Security in the State Department’s Office of the Coordinator for Counterterrorism, Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Nonproliferation, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Nonproliferation Controls, and Director of the Office of Regional Affairs. During her time with the Arms Control and Disarmament Agency as Chief of the Non-Proliferation Treaty Extension Division, she led U.S. preparations for the 1995 NPT Review and Extension Conference.
