Tropicália Movie Night

On Wednesday, October 7, we will screen Tropicália (2012), a documentary directed by Marcelo Machado that explores one of the most transformative movements in Brazilian music and culture.

Set against the backdrop of Brazil’s military dictatorship, the film tells the story of the Tropicália movement and its artists, including Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Gal Costa, Os Mutantes, and others. Through archival footage, interviews, and music, the documentary explores how Brazilian artists experimented with new sounds and forms of expression while responding to the political and cultural tensions of the time.

The film will be shown withEnglish subtitles, so everyone is welcome, regardless of Portuguese proficiency!
