President-elect Donald Trump was highly critical of the transatlantic alliance — NATO — during the 2016 election campaign. This program will ask how NATO might fare during the Trump presidency, and why it matters. The featured speakers are visiting lecturer Lawrence Chalmer, one of America’s top experts on NATO and Professor-emeritus of International Relations at National Defense University, Washington, D.C. , and Jeffrey Lunstead, a career diplomat, and Diplomat in Residence and member of the Political Science Department at Middlebury College. The session will be introduced and moderated by Stanley R. Sloan, Visiting Scholar in Political Science at Middlebury and author of: Defense of the West, NATO, the European Union and the Transatlantic Bargain.
