Using Voltage Imaging to Understand the Neural Circuits Underlying Cognitive Demand
Diego Espino graduated from Middlebury College in 2019 with a major in Physics and a minor in German. Following graduation, Diego worked as a research assistant at UCLA, studying eye movements and perceptual decision making. In 2021, Diego began his Master’s in Electrical and Computer Engineering at UCLA, specializing in Neuroengineering, and subsequently began his PhD in Dr. Peyman Golshani’s laboratory, developing tools to study neuronal activity in mice. His research focuses on recording hippocampal interneuron activity using novel voltage imaging techniques and investigating how cognitive demands influence hippocampal neuronal activity.
