What is the Global Gag Rule?

Please join us for a discussion of the “Global Gag Rule,” a newly instituted presidential executive order that blocks US federal funding for foreign non-governmental organizations that provide abortion counselling or referrals, advocate to decriminalise abortion or expand abortion services. In its newest incarnation, the Global Gag Rule of 2017 stipulates that not only will these organizations be prevented from receiving US Aid dollars for family planning programs if they mention family planning (including abortion), they now also can’t receive a single cent for other services such as TB/malaria/maternal health/HIV.
