“Where the Wind Blew,” a film by Andre Singer, tells the story of how the Cold War super powers, in their race to develop more and more deadly bombs, spent forty years developing weapons capable of wiping out entire nations, while sacrificing their own vulnerable populations in the name of national security. The documentary examines the ill-effects of nuclear testing on local populations in Kazakhstan and Nevada. Following the documentary, a brief CNS panel featuring Dr. Ferenc Dalnoki-Veress, Anne Pellegrino, Jean du Preez, and Grace Liu, will briefly discuss the CTBT’s current status and new verification techniques.
