WRMC x MCAB presents S.O.S Fest 2019 featuring Japanese Breakfast, T-Rextasy, and Middlebury’s own The Big Sip!

This is a FREE outdoor show taking place right after the back-to-school picnic on Friday, September 13 –– don’t even think about missing it!

Japanese Breakfast, the indie pop solo project of singer-songwriter Michelle Zauner, has mastered the craft of veiling melancholy in full, celebratory shimmer. Zauner’s debut record, 2016’s Psychopomp, confronts the death of her mother with equal parts breezy shoegaze and existential meditations Japanese Breakfast’s latest effort, Soft Sounds From Another Planet, leans into the experimental, using themes like outer space and artificial intelligence to dive deeper into the human psyche. (Pitchfork)

Since playing their first show at a punk pizza party, T-Rextasy has “garnered a cult following” (The Deli) of believers hoping to hop in the dino dames’ minivan. In 2014, the “hyper-verbal rock & roll goddesses” (Rolling Stone) released demos they recorded themselves on an iPhone that began generating buzz in their hometown of New York City. 2016’s Jurassic Punk, the band’s debut record out on Father/Daughter Records, received critical praise from outlets such as NPR and its single, “Gap Yr Boiz,” appeared on a Rolling Stone “Best Songs of 2016” list. In support of the LP, T-Rextasy refined their “charming…impressive live show” (Stereogum) on several international tours that included stops at Northside Festival and South by Southwest. The group has sought to mobilize their platform throughout their journey. The group calls attention to injustices from within interviews to the stage, donates earnings to causes such as LGBTQ+ rights and prison abolition, and cultivates a community of like-minded artistic activists.
