Title: Translingual Youth Folklorists: Sustaining and Reinvigorating Expressive Cultures, Sounds, and Futures

Dr. Gregory Winger Lecture: Alliances & Technological Change: Cybersecurity in the U.S.-East Asia Alliances

Spring Commencement 2024 will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 1:00 PM Pacific Time. The in-person ceremony will be held outdoors at Colton Hall Lawn, Pacific Street between Madison and Jefferson Streets, Monterey, CA.

The ceremony will be accessible in an online format with livestream for graduates, families and friends around the globe. A reception will be held on campus immediately following the ceremony. Location TBD.

Sener Akturk is Professor in the Department of International Relations at Koç University. He is a scholar of comparative politics, with a focus on comparative politics of ethnicity, religion, and nationalism. After completing his BA and MA at the University of Chicago and his PhD in political science at the University of California, Berkeley, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies and a Visiting Lecturer at the Department of Government at Harvard University.

The instructors and MIIS TI and LS Japanese students will serve guests a bowl of matcha tea and a single confectionery. Come to relax and enjoy the aesthetic tradition.

The 32nd Mini-Monterey Model is a collaborative event with Chinese, Japanese & Language Studies Program and Interpretation Practicum class to showcase content research result in target languages, being simultaneously interpreted into English and other languages. 

TESOL/TFL Capstone students will report on their teaching Practicum and Applied Linguistics Capstone projects and current students will share on a project from this semester which was particularly impactful for them. Pizza & Potluck as well!
