Academic Programs - MIIS

Speaker Steedman Hinckley served seven presidents analyzing and advising on Soviet/Russian affairs at the White House, the departments of state and defense, the US embassy in Moscow, and the intelligence community in analytical and operational roles. He served on the national intelligence council and the policy planning staff at State, and was executive secretary of three binational commissions with Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan. He retired in 2023 as a charter member of CIA’s senior analytic service. He holds a B.A. in Russian and Soviet Studies from Wesleyan University and an M.Phil.

Agents from the Department of Homeland Security (Trade Transparency Unit and Cybersecurity Unit) will be visiting the MIIS Campus on Monday and Tuesday (May 06 and May 07). There will be an opportunity to meet and talk with the visiting agents at a Brown-bag Information Session at 1200 Pacific Time on Tuesday, May 07. The event will be open to the MIIS Community.

Join the Institute Fellowships Team for a Fulbright application workshop! We will go over application tips, talk about how to center your personal experiences in application essays, what themes to focus on that will make for a solid application, and more. Bring any questions, struggles, and triumphs you’ve had so far in the application process. Haven’t started your application yet? You are still welcome to join! No matter where you are in the Fulbright application process, you will be able to gain insight from this workshop.
