Team4Tech Summer Internship Program Information Session

Team4Tech is a Silicon Valley-based nonprofit that helps education-focused NGOs working in the developing world to increase their impact and improve the quality of education in their local communities through technology solutions and training. Since 2013, Team4Tech has provided over $13M in grants and pro bono consulting to 35 NGOs in 19 countries, benefitting 110,000 students and teachers. This has been possible through 85 capacity-building projects with more than 800 volunteers from 19 leading tech companies and universities.

Software Engineering: Overview of First Destination Roles

John Sterling ‘96, Software Engineering Manager, Google, provides students with an overview of the typical first destination roles for CSCI majors within the tech industry, as well as, the typical career path progression from that entry-level role. Discussion includes:
• A description of the “standard” entry-level SWE roles;
• Which ones are in most demand;
• What differentiates the roles;
• What types of individuals are best suited for those roles;
• The qualifications (academic and extracurricular) expected for these roles; and

Industrial Economics (IEc) Info Session – All about work in environmental consulting

Come learn from Andy Schwarz, Midd alum, who has more than 30 years of environmental policy consulting experience, working with clients in the U.S. and in Eastern Europe. Andy holds a B.A. in Biology from Middlebury; an M.S.T. in Environmental Education from Antioch University; an M.F.S. in Environmental Policy from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies; and an M.B.A. with a specialty in Finance from George Washington University.

All students are welcome to learn about this industry. There is currently both a summer internship and job offered in Handshake.

On Thursday alumni join us for a panel discussion. Friday morning, our alumni guests have volunteered to hold one-on-one chats with students (sign up in Handshake).
