Take a no plastic pledge with MIIS Ocean Club! Each year the average American throws out about 200 pounds of plastic, 50% of which are items designed to be used only once. Much of that plastic waste ends up in the ocean, endangering marine life at all levels. The MIIS Ocean Club invites you to say no to single use plastic items this week. Stop by our table in the Samson Courtyard on Tuesday, Nov. 1, during dead hours (12pm-2pm). Those who take the pledge will be entered to win reusable bags from the Monterey Bay Aquarium and bamboo utensil sets! Location: Library

The Middlebury Institute’s Chapter of Net Impact and the Center for Social Impact Learning’s Student Club will be hosting a fundraiser Happy Hour at Cibo’s on Thursday, March 31 from 4-8 p.m! Net Impact is a nonprofit membership organization for students and professionals interested in using business skills in support of social and environmental projects and causes. Students involved with the club partner with the Center for Social Impact Learning (CSIL) at MIIS to work on social-business projects, creating impact throughout MIIS, Monterey County, and the world.

Join MIIS Model United Nations for its weekly meeting - discuss club activities and substantive issues on international organization and the role of the UN in international affairs!

The Center for Social Impact Learning welcomes students from all MIIS programs to attend our information session about how to join the MIIS Micro-Enterprise Consultant Group starting next semester. This group will be part of the CSIL Microfinance Initiative working with entrepreneurs in Salinas and we will discuss how you can join to benefit local enterprises, particularly entrepreneurs who lack access to traditional financing options. Our main client will present and give examples of the tasks that consultants will focus on.
