Opening Day: Hong Chun Zhang: Hair Story in Charcoal and Ink

Chinese-born artist Hong Chun Zhang began developing her “hairy” style to explore her personal identity in 2002. Raised among artists, Zhang mastered Chinese brush painting before moving to the United States in 1996. The flowing locks that pervade her artworks connect her to both her homeland and her new American environment. Free

Friends of the Art Museum Overnight Trip to the Hudson Valley

The trip will include guided visits to Olana; Union Church of Pocantico Hills; Kykuit; Lyndhurst; and DIA Beacon. Friday dinner and lodgings will be at the commodious Tarrytown House Estate in Tarrytown.
Professor emeritus of the History of Art and Architecture Glenn Andres will accompany the tour with commentaries and will offer an informational preview of the trip at 7:30 on Thursday March 7 in the Mahaney Arts Center.
