As part of the SGA-sponsored collaborative mental health-focused art spaces, this workshop led by Prof. Gottshall will use a variety of writing exercises and prompts to loosen our imaginations and experience language in an expressive and embodied way. The focus will be on playfulness and process, and accepting language’s invitation into realms of beauty, mystery, and strangeness.

Sitting around a ceremonial community drum, we will create and engage with rhythms designed to open and energize chakras, those important energy centers in our bodies. No experience necessary; Simply bring yourself with an open heart-mind and ears.

Writing Into the Void: How to Make Work & Address Challenging Topics in Difficult Times. A one hour session with writer & professor Megan Mayhew-Bergman. We’ll work through some writing prompts, talk about building healthy relationships with a creative practice, discuss techniques for challenging subject matter. There will be space for Q&A

This workshop will be facilitated by Professor Meshi Chavez to dance and foster the mind and body connection.

Water balloon fight on Battel Beach for all freshman! Come and have a blast from 2-3pm on May 14!

This event will host a gallery that addresses mental health as an open topic. Students will be able to display physical art, present poetry or other works of performance, and listen to music from their peers. This space will follow a two-week series of mental health destigmatization through art. Tune into the SGA Mental Health Committee Instagram for more information!
