The Antigone Project

Sponsored by:
Theatre
Richard Romagnoli directs this prologue and five short plays, four of which were written by women playwrights of color. Each takes a spin on the original Greek tragedy about a young woman who defies the state to uphold a religious principle—the unwritten law of the gods—condemning herself to death. Not tragedies in the classical sense, these contemporary plays are sometimes broadly comical, serious, and warmly human. Sponsored by the Theatre Program. Tickets: $12/10/6; on sale October 10

A Masterclass in Persuasion with Speech Consultant Jay Heinrichs '77

Sponsored by:
Theatre
Come watch the NYTimes bestselling author of Thank You For Arguing do for Midd students what he does for corporations, college fundraisers, and TED Talk speakers across the nation: use the principles of classical rhetoric to pinpoint their message for its target audience. We’ve invited students to pitch an idea of their own, or to advocate for a student org or activity in which they believe. So we’ll hear a variety of two-minute proposals, recruitment pitches, mission statements, SGA resolutions, etc., then watch as Jay helps hone the message for maximum impact.
