MIIS Community Yoga The community yoga class offered during New Student Orientation was so well-received that we decided to continue to offer a Friday morning class — any member of the MIIS community is welcome to join us. Class will begin at 7:45 sharp and end at 8:45. Bring your mat if you have one, but loaner mats are available. This class will be taught by Rebecca Henriksen.

Winter Commencement ceremony and reception. Ceremony begins at 1:00pm. Seating begins at noon. Ceremony location: Golden State Theatre, 417 Alvarado Street, Monterey, CA 93940. Reception immediately following at Samson Student Center, 453 Van Buren Street.

There will be a reception at Samson following the Spring Commencement ceremony at Colton Hall.

For the fourth year, Old Monterey Foundation is pleased to announce that will hold the first free event in the 2017 Lecture Series sponsored by The Marcia F. Devoe Fund of the Community Foundation for Monterey County on Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Irvine Auditorium, McCone Building, Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey, 499 Pierce Street, Monterey. This presentation will shed light on the little known and mostly forgotten Monterey leg of California’s Historic Buffalo Soldier Trail.

Global climate change is expected to generate more intense rainfall events, less snowfall, and longer droughts. Management of California’s water supplies for urban and rural communities, agriculture and the environment, will require greater attention to managing surface and groundwater as an integrated system, including new innovative wastewater recovery technologies. Groundwater supplies have been depleted in many areas of California, most notably in the San Joaquin Valley and in many coastal areas, including the Monterey Bay region.
